HSS accepts lower fees for MRT2 project

HSS Engineers Bhd (HEB) associate company, HSS Integrated Sdn Bhd (HSSI), has accepted a revised consultancy job contract for the Mass Rapid Transit 2 (MRT2) project.

In an exchange filing last Friday, HEB noted that the fees for the consultancy work has been reduced to RM158.68 million, a RM29.6 million reduction from its initial amount.

“In line with the revised scope of the independent consultant engineer services for the project, the value of the contract has been revised to RM158.68 million with a reduction of RM29.6 million,” it said.

HEB added that the fees comprise RM21.9 million payment to HSSI, RM4.04 million to Public Works Department (PWD) and RM3.62 million of reimbursable expenses.

The secondment of PWD’s professional employees is on the basis that the client only reimburses HSSI the actual professional fees and reimbursable expenses paid to the said professional employees.

It said the revised contract will continue to contribute a positive earnings to the group’s assets for the financial year ending Dec 31, 2019 to Dec 31, 2022.

HSSI was appointed as consultant to provide independent engineer services by Mass Rapid Transit Corp Sdn Bhd on July 9, 2015.

The government has decided to reduce the cost of MRT2 by converting the project delivery partner contract to turnkey contract, which has resulted in revising the scope of the HSSI’s contract. — TMR
