AWC bags MRT2 supply package

AWC Bhd’s subsidiary, Trackwork and Supplies Sdn Bhd, has accepted a letter of award from China Communications Construction Co (M) Sdn Bhd for part of the system works package worth RM17.1 million for the Mass Rapid Transit Line 2 (MRT2).

In a statement yesterday, AWC said the contract is for the designing, manufacturing, supplying, assembling, testing and commissioning of Harsco Model RGH 10C rail grinding vehicle works for the MRT2 route from Sungai Buloh to Putrajaya.

“This is the first substantial single contract that the rail division has secured since the acquisition last year,” said AWC group CEO and president Datuk Ahmad Kabeer Mohamed Nagoor.

He added that the project would see the group’s total contract wins amounting to approximately RM135 million for the current financial year.

“We look forward to more opportunities in the rail sector as other mega rail projects come back onstream,” Ahmad Kabeer added.

The contract is expected to be completed by Sept 30, 2020.

Last month, the group’s wholly owned subsidiary Qudotech Sdn Bhd had a trade contract worth RM29.87 million from Lendlease Projects (M) Sdn Bhd for the provision of hydraulic services.

In addition, another unit of AWC, Ambang Wira Sdn Bhd, had recently bagged a five-year government contract worth RM35.1 million via the Public Works Department for facilities management services at the JB Sentral building in Johor Baru.
